Lois Borgenicht | Monument Sotheby’s International Realty I Art Gallery Event

April 2 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Please join us on Thursday, April 2nd, from
4-6 pm at our Ruxton Office & Gallery to enjoy the paintings of Lois Borgenicht.

I was born in New York City in 1949. My mother, Grace Borgenicht, was an artist who later became an art dealer. When she married the painter Warren Brandt, family life was filled with art adventures. A Friday night dinner might end with Warren’s declaration that the family would have to get up at 6 a.m. the next morning for a visit to the Barnes Collection in Pennsylvania. When Grace and Warren’s artist friends came to visit, I was often lucky enough to be included in a spontaneous printmaking session in Warren’s studio.

Before college, I studied at the School of Art in Fontainebleau, France, and after studying art history at Boston University, I went to the Boston University School of Fine Arts and the New York Studio School. In 1989, I moved to Baltimore and studied privately with Paul Moscatt.

My still lifes and portraits are in many private collections from New York to California. I have shown widely in Baltimore with The Morton Street Group and with fellow artists MICA Professor Emeritus Paul Moscatt and Timmerman Daugherty at the Resurgam Gallery and The Gallery at La Terra.

In 2007, Gallery G at the Beveled Edge (www.thebevelededge.com) began to represent my work in Baltimore. My work has also been exhibited in New York City; Bridgehampton, New York; Louisville, Kentucky; Corpus Christie Texas; Rockford, Illinois; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My portrait of a New York City police officer was included in “The Face of Courage,” a commemorative art exhibition of portrait paintings of 9/11’s fallen uniformed rescue workers that traveled throughout the country.
