My painting has evolved over the years from a literal interpretation of the natural world around me to abstract impressions of the environment around me. When I discovered oil paint with cold wax medium, I found sensory satisfaction in the look and feel of this buttery mixture. I use spreaders, rollers, and my fingers to lay the paint mixture on the wood. I build my abstract paintings using cold wax medium, oil paint, powdered pigments, and collage. I choose my materials for the tactile experience I get working with them and for the textures and surfaces they allow me to create. I use metal tools and solvents to reveal the underlayers.
