Michael was born and raised in Annapolis, MD where the rivers, creeks, and Chesapeake Bay abound. The charm of the water, boats catching seafood, sailing, and power boating all came together to form the nautical culture in the Chesapeake Bay area…” The Land of Pleasant Living”. These local Annapolis “Waterscapes” started to give Michael the foundation for a love of landscapes which he would come to explore throughout America.
Why photography? A photograph in an image-driven world tells much of the story. A picture is worth a thousand words! He fell in love with photography starting in 1983 when he moved to Bermuda for a job opportunity. Bermuda had a serene, inspiring tropical beauty that he wanted to capture…with a camera. It began as a hobby and grew into much more. Photography has taken him to 45 U.S. states and several nations. The spectacular power and majesty of the American landscape from the West to the East Coast is nothing short of awe-inspiring. From the wild wind and water-lashed beaches of Washington and Oregon to Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay the freshness, the vastness, and the infinite possibilities of your imagination are sparked by gazing at these wide open land and seascapes. Michael’s pictures have been featured in over 20 local photo exhibits and shows in Anne Arundel County including Annapolis City Hall, BWI Airport, Quiet Waters Park, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and Ginger Cove Retirement Community. Bay Woods Retirement Community, Woods Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, and Monument Sotheby’s Realty have also displayed their art. Hospice of the Chesapeake has hosted some of Mike’s art as has Wimsey Cove Art and Framing. He is an active member of the Digital Photo Club of Annapolis and considers it a tremendous resource. He participates in shows sponsored by the Anne Arundel Arts Council and those sponsored by the Annapolis Arts Alliance. Michael has also been published by the Baltimore Sun and has been a featured artist chosen by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. America has many great places illustrating nature’s wild beauty and rugged power.
