Artist Biography
Lindsay Smith was born in Hawaii and grew up in the small mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. She studied fine arts and got her BFA at the University of Colorado where she met her now husband, Jimmy Smith. Jimmy was drafted first round to the Baltimore Ravens after college. They moved to Baltimore where they started a family as he played 11 amazing years with the Ravens. At this time Lindsay’s art shifted from architectural photography to pop art. She became enthralled with imagery from mass culture and transferred this fascination to large scale paintings. Lindsay has since been producing mixed media paintings of celebrities and icons that have inspired her daily life. Her art has been seen in Los Angeles, Colorado, and Baltimore.
Artist Statement
My paintings are bold and large, throwing my love of pop culture and celebrities int the spectator’s face. I have drawn my imagery from mass media and mass culture. They are artists, athletes, models, musicians, and commercial items that have inspired me. These mixed media life size paintings combine bright vibrant spray paint with overlaid hand painted acrylic images.
