A native of Ghana, Kwame Otibu Kena has called Maryland home for over two decades. He has pursued and built upon a love for art since his youth. Professionally trained as a systems engineer, Kwame enjoys the interplay between his technical and creative abilities.
Kwame is an abstract artist who likes to explore different techniques and modes of expression. His art encompasses a range of movements including traditional African, midcentury modern, and contemporary. Kwame’s work has been featured in local art galleries; shapes, textures, and spatial relationships are emphasized in his pieces.
“I am inspired by music, patterns in nature, and the work of other artists. I strive to bring to life every artistic impression that comes to mind. Curiosity and passion push me to create things that have not yet been created. And, it gives me great joy to know that my work can also bring meaning to others.”
